Benefits of Massage

Toxins are something we eat, breath, smoke or drink that gets into our systems and lodges its way into the muscle bed. Immediately, the blood flowing through the muscle is restricted and the body sends out lactic acids to try to break down the deposit. It builds on top of the toxin and forms what is commonly called The Knot!

Massage manipulates the body with structured pressure on the superficial and deeper layers of muscle to promote relaxation, and the body’s general well function. Using the hands, fingers, forearms, and elbows, massage targets tension in the muscles, tendons, joints, and ligaments of the body. Massage can also assist with the well being of the lymph glands, the Digestive System, the Respiratory System, the Circulatory System, the Nervous System and the Immune Systems by helping to reduce stress and push out toxins from the body.

Getting the Fullest Benefits:

  1. Arrive five minutes before your appointment. This allows time to get settled, fill out any paperwork and start the appointment promptly.
  2. Communicate with your therapist! Tell your therapist if the pressure needs to be deeper or lighter. (JUST REMEMBER: MASSAGE SHOULD NEVER HURT!)
  3. Remember to keep regular breathing. Each breath helps to circulate oxygen through the blood. This helps to relax the muscles and relieve tension.
  4. Drink lots of water! Massage will squeeze out the toxins from the muscles, but water helps to flush them out of the system.
